Storefront for Community Design

Over the past year I’ve been thrilled to volunteer for Storefront for Community Design in Richmond, VA. They are wonderful people doing amazing work in town. Among other things, they created a unique opportunity for community members who need help with design to find volunteer design professionals able to lend a hand. Their June newsletter describes a project I got to work on, a façade improvement for the owner of a building housing a Montessori school in Fulton. The mid-pandemic zoom call was our first design meeting and my introduction to the Storefront world. What they do is vital and I highly encourage other design professionals to volunteer ifyou are interested in design equity in Richmond. I believe that everyone deserves great design, no matter your budget or experience. If you are a part of a community organization that needs some design first aid please reach out to them!
